Augmented Reality

In this article the author talks about augmented reality and how it could be used to help to see and know the Titanic in Belfast better. The author of this article is Helen Jackson and in the article she will be covering how the use of AR will enhance the user’s experience and by doing so the user will be able to get to know how the Titanic was built and how important it is to people in Belfast/Northern Ireland and how much value the place has to the people.

This article talks about new technologies and how that will create new ways where objects will be made visible by bring new ways of how we see the world and how the world is known. In the article Jackson also talked about what is seen through AR and how it will be used to create a curtain of facts about the Titanic and the city itself so it’s important to know that AR is going to be used as a tool to create a documentary. “The image does not speak for itself; rather it forms a dialogue between the viewer and the archive form” (Jackson, 2017)

The article then talked the history of the Titanic and the place where it was built to help the reader to have a better understanding of the project. In the article the writer explained the project and how it was achieve to bring the Titanic to life through the use of AR and how the user will be able to experience past events in current time.

PROPOSE PRACTICE BASED SOLUTION :

From the article that was written by Helen Jackson, what I thought would be an interesting project to do was to create a similar augmented reality but instead of targeting the local people, get the tourists to use the AR. The aim of this project to find out if the augmented reality will have the same effect on people that do not live in Belfast and have no connection to the Titanic as it would to the local people. This will then allow me to be able to analyse how the use of augmented reality with the help of photographic images to layer and build a reality that allow us to showcase the history of the Titanic and how it’s story will effect tourists differently from the people living in Northern Ireland.
